T.O.P's new album TOP SPOT - ANOTHER DIMENSION came out on April 3rd and I'm so happy he finally got the courage to release it!! I've been listening to it non-stop since. This album is one big piece of beautiful art. I honestly cannot express how gorgeous this is and how well it shows off T.O.P's state of mind when writing the lyrics and picking out the art that will be included in the album.
I would have to say that my favorite artwork from all 3 of the versions would be the ones in the 3rd version. With the 9th song in the album "꼬깔코온 (FOR FANS)" (the middle artwork) he expresses his love and gratitude towards his fan base, the one that stuck beside him even after everything that he had gone through, the big hiatus he had taken to reflect and work at his own paste. I may not understand korean, but after reading the english lyrics from the official T.O.P membership site, I cried.
In the 10th song 연극이 끝나고 난 뒤 (Stendhal Syndrome) he mentions his old stage name "T.E.M.P.O" at the start, which instantly throws you back to those days when he was still a teenager with little to no experience in the industry, working his hardest to become fittable for YG Entertainment. He also talks about how even with all of this hate, and I quote "My music’s gonna hold you close" his music and his presence in the industry will always be there, no matter what happens. T.O.P also talks about art as a whole as that has been a very important part of his life and he has always been an art museum enthusiast with many photos of him visiting such museums.
The last song in the album "BE SOLID" is what appears to be a love song of some kind. It's a very emotional song with lines such as "Wanna be someone you come home to", "Write these poems all for you" and "Tryna be someone better for you" which T.O.P is trying to convey his emotional distress to losing or getting rejected by a potential or past lover. I must say that this is one of my most favorite songs out of the entire album, given it's sad and relateable lyrics.
My favorite 4-panel fold-out leaflet has to be the one from the first album version as I'm really into the astronaut visuals as well as the representation behind it.
